Pete Werner has been excellent as a rookie alongside Demario Davis, forming a stout linebacker tandem. The Saints have allowed just 72.9 yards per game and 3.1 YPC, both the fewest in the NFL. New Orleans has mostly been able to hold up defensively, particularly against the run, where they rank first in DVOA, according to Football Outsiders. Siemian was sacked four times, and the injuries to Terron Armstead and Andrus Peat have held back what should have been a top offensive line. Philadelphia’s run defense is more vulnerable, and Ingram should be able to take advantage. If Kamara cannot return this week, Mark Ingram will pick up a similar role to last week when he went over 100 yards from scrimmage. They won’t have it easy against the Eagles’ stout trio of cornerbacks, however. The Saints’ pass-catching corps was always going to be limited without Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara, but Deonte Harris, Tre’Quan Smith, and Marquez Callaway deserve some credit for stepping up this season. Siemian is also only averaging 6.8 yards per attempt as the starter with an inability to show downfield accuracy consistently.
Trevor Siemian has been up-and-down as a starter, and while he has thrown five touchdowns to no interceptions, he has only completed 57.7% of his passes.
